this is actually kind of a harmful idea to perpetuate because even though sometimes it's about parenting there are also kids with behavioral pathologies like ODD and even ADHD that can cause extreme behavior like this and it further stigmatizes and shames the parents who are already in an extremely trying and difficult situation and likely blaming themselves as is. like i know it's wankgate or whatever but i just want to point out that there are absolutely parents who do everything they can and still end up with a kid who steals/hits them/physically lashes out at other kids/destroys things/etc. it's not always the parents' fault.

so stigmatize and shame the children instead as long as everyone understands that you the parents are blameless

got it

holy bad faith batman

don't stigmatize either of them, the children are still children and literally in the situation i'm describing (odd, severe adhd, etc) it's not like they wake up and go "i am going to be evil and bad today", they have disorders

you don't get to cry bad faith when your position is "here is when it's okay to shit-talk your kid on the Internet"

it's never okay. idc if they're the most severe ahdh sufferer imaginable, smearing shit on the walls, throwing fits about uncle ben not being on the rice anymore, whatever. you still have a responsibility as a parent to put their needs before your own and if that means someone walks away thinking you're a bad parent because they can't wrap their heads around mental illness, that's on them. that's not a coupon for you to victim blame your own child because it's the easy way out

if there's one thing dwrpers are good at it's creaming themselves to armchair diagnose other people, there's no way a parent with a genuinely mentally ill child to that degree could describe their situation and squeak by with people here thinking they were a run of the mill bad mom

agree but i'm not saying the person in question has a kid with odd or something similar, i was responding specifically to the tangent of a couple of different anons insisting that a child with really aberrant or harmful behavior was clearly caused by bad parenting
