for some reason we still haven't gotten over our tendency to label all male rpers as neckbeards

admittedly, there are some really neckbeardy players out there, but idk it feels a lot like people throwing stones from glass houses when you look at the kinks that are popular on dw nowadays

It's this. I think 90% of dwrpers have around the same level of writing ability but the phenomenally bad writers do not have any concept of personality/motivation/voice. I still remember Eric needing to have it explained to him that he could use a character's backstory and lore to influence their tags.

There are male rpers who do not have this mindset and they're basically indistinguishable from the majority of other rpers. But the neckbeardy writers stick out because of this.

"I think 90% of dwrpers have around the same level of writing ability"

i used to naively think this too, but last year i found myself in a game full of players who somehow didn't even understand how to use a comma. unfortunately, i regret to inform you that there are many female rpers who would be able to take eric's terrible writer crown.

it was kind of a shock, honestly. i'd never imagined seeing people in this hobby who cannot even write better than a fifth grader, especially since dwrp skews older

honestly I’ve found that there are a lot of players that don’t write perfect grammar who are great creatives and can read into vibes well, and even more players who can write well but can’t roleplay for beans, can’t make a hook or can’t cut the purple prose down

i’ll take the former any day
