This is really common among poor people and was the case with me when I was at my poorest, though. Like you, I didn't go to cons or take vacations. I actually never made any large purchases of any kind. Even ones that arguably were justified, like I had a smartphone with a cracked screen for literal years because I couldn't get my brain to be okay with the idea of shelling out so much money at once for a new one. But I was constantly buying little things like buying a soda or a pack gum in the checkout line any time I went to the grocery store, going to Starbucks, getting Uber rides instead of taking the bus, etc. All stuff that was like, not a huge expense on its own, but there were so many small expenses it added up.
