not a private game mod, but for the indefinite run private games i've been in, i'd blame it on the fact that most of them have a relaxed check in ac with no oversight, conditions, or limitations. this means that you can have a starting pool of 20 people, a reasonably healthy number, and have 15 of them not tag but make ac and you're stuck with a bunch of deadweight.

because a lot of dwrpers love joining games and fucking hate tagging and will do anything to avoid actually tagging.

+1, it's the games that say "it's fine bb you don't need to tag to keep your character" that attract the weird combination of highlander-flakes who plurk every other day about how they're so sorry they couldn't tag this week, again, but would anyone like to plot?

get enough of those players in a small game and that game might as well be buried

da and yeah i think that's the problem. the short-term private games i've been in all had fairly high acs and the activity levels were correspondingly high because people who are slow aren't going to even look at a game that has a 20-comment ac or a weekly ac.

if you make your game appealing to people who don't tag, you can't be surprised when it gets filled up with people who don't tag.
