don't think anyone has confirmed parthas players are actually being paid or offered financial rewards to play in the game, just that they would be offered in future

They said in their opening announcement plurk that they'd reward active players after the first three months or something

if you buy a lottery scratch off at a convenience store, and you win $50, and you turn in the ticket at the store, and the store gives you $50, you worked for the store. its the same as a job. you went there, did something, and got money. its employment.

except the argument was never about whether you're legally an employee, it was that financial compensation in exchange for participation is in function the same as financial compensation in exchange for participation

Re: ayrt

(Anonymous) 2023-04-13 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
not sure what youre quibbling about. employment is financial compensation for participation. scratch offs are financial compensation for participation. takes place at the same location. same guy hands you the same money. they are the same thing.

youve got like 160 jobs. youre a government employee on account of you got a tax refund. youre also a trust fund baby, because you earned $0.38 interest on your Anytime™ Checking Account. add to that, youre a landlord, and when your empty pepsi cans dont pay rent on time, you evict them. everything is exactly the same because financial compensation for participation is exactly one thing that has the same effect in all conceivable circumstances, as you have demonstrated.
