i get that you're trying to be fair with the assertion that it's not malicious, but tbqh being fair is the worst way to handle people who exhibit toxic narcissism because that's exactly what they want you to do - it's how they get their foot back in the door.

it doesn't matter if it's not his fault he has a disorder or whatever, because he's clearly making no attempt to manage it. always assume malice for someone like that, and slam the door in their face. nothing of value will be lost.
