i think the point theyre trying to make is that they are typically an ordinary person removed from their canon job, circumstance, and framework

Anon said that people generally don't play ordinary normal people but people play characters like the Haikyuu boys, who aren't even famous professional volleyball players, they're just kids who play volleyball.

I think it's possible for a character that's "just" a normal person to have a strong personality that attracts rpers, and it's true that there are also characters who will lose everything interesting about them if you put them in jamjar city. Those are not exclusive statements.
