da but iirc game events brought in some supervisor-type npcs into this quasi-military setting and the mods said that the npcs would be uncomfortable sending under-18 characters into dangerous situations, regardless of the fact that numerous kid and teen characters had been in the game already and doing dangerous stuff for a while (and also did it all the time in their canons)

ngl i would love to play an underage character in a situation where they had to defy the npcs and sneak around to help out the grownups. were the mods flat banning underage characters from taking part, or just saying they'd run into more obstacles?

it's possible that it eventually would have worked out to be the more obstacles option in practice but it was presented as flat banning

it was a bad idea and it caused wank, but they could've weathered it if they'd just kept going and shrugged, because the only people they were driving away were characters they didn't want in the game anyway

I remember this but not the game name. I think it grandfathered in the teens already in game but they rejected a bunch of applicants that round after making the decision and announcing it. there was a lot of drama pointing out they were allowing adults who were much less suitable to join I think after initially claiming they only wanted characters who would be able to handle the seriousness of the game or something.

AFAIK El nysa was one of the games that just gradually ground to a halt as people lost interest. it ran for a solid chunk of time before that tho.
