As a trans person, I have noticed more trans people being willing to overlook transphobia directed towards transmascs than transphobia directed towards transwomen or transpeople in general. It's the same as how in the rare instance we get a trans character, most of the time it's a transwoman versus virtually no transmasc characters. In the rare instance we get one of those, it's probably someone pretty in an androgynous way with a buzzcut.

There are layers of misogyny and transphobia to peel back, and all of it sucks.

da chiming in to say that my grandma is the same way, she uses he a lot in english regardless of who she's referring to and it's not a matter of intentional misgendering, it's just that english doesn't come equipped with the same easy interchangeable null gender address.

if the translators are just given lines to translate out of context i can understand why it might just end up being denoted as 'he'. they is probably the easiest find and replace compromise, but languages are funny like that.

i hate hazbin hotel and all the other ugly ass shows this person makes, but the difference between them and a hugely influential figure actively supporting hate groups seems clear enough to me. vivziepop just seems like an indie edgelord who never aged out of the mid-2000s compared to rowling, a millionaire bigot whose life revolves around transphobia

maybe i'm just curating my online experience well, but i feel like most people are already losing interest in AI art outside of a fun novelty or small personal projects (i.e. generating rp graphics.) for the most part, it looks really generic and samey, and high-profile fuckups like the willy wonka experience show how fallible it is for actual commercial use, to say nothing of the controversy that follows every time it comes up and the enormous potential for copyright problems. i think it'll die out within a year or two.

Around the time people start complaining about Tower of Fantasy. I think Wuthering Waves is going to have a comparable impact.

I mean, fair! there's a definite difference in scale, but I'd just choose to not engage with both canons.

yeah, it's similar in japanese (in that many forms of i/you are gender neutral and it's unusual to refer to people by any sort of specific pronoun because who you're talking about is understood from context) and as a fan translator it can definitely cause issues at times with characters whose actual gender is never stated or is unknown in canon.

i'm not at all surprised to hear of those sorts of issues occurring in an asian canon just because of how the language structure differs from english.

if the pronunciation issue is irt chinese names/terms then the VA might just be mispronouncing or trying to pronounce it correctly but having it come off awkwardly 🤷‍♂️ even in genshin i don't think anyone pronounces liyue right or even zhongli's name lmao

50/50 tbh because he says "it's why I named you after the best thing ever" which can be interpreted two ways. either he says he was the one who named her in the first place, or he's saying that he's given her a 'nickname' based on her real name, like how he calls his lieutenant Lute.

but if he named her in the first place it raises so many fucking questions about where Vaggie even came from because arent angels just people who died??? (im a casual viewer not into the deep lore so i was more confused than anything by this shitty reveal)
