she clocks something suspicious with him as soon as kalm as he retells his version of the nibelheim events, arguably sooner, and literally never says...anything. meanwhile she knows he's kinda broken and continues to flirt and hit on him, which is just gross to me. they couldn't really be called friends as kids because cloud was too awkward and resentful (subsequent material has since retconned this a bit, which i also don't like), and she hero worships him and puts him on a pedestal without ever analyzing or overcoming that until he's comatose in a wheelchair. then she's the one to go into his mind and put him back together? why? because she's known him the longest? because there's no one else left in the story who could? i just never bought the closeness they supposedly have and don't think they have any chemistry. she's also just very annoying in the OG imo.

i'm sure above anon is alluding to some kind of yaoi hounding happening here, but cloud is my fandom bike, i ship him with like...everyone. just not her.

i haven't seen anything like this in ages and i rp almost exclusively animes lmao christ

certain people who are more anime than not that attempt to play las do so with anime traits and it never translates well. i don't watch anime or read manga, so when i was in a thread with an la and they mentioned something about nosebleeds, i had my character react icly to the person they were talking to suddenly bleeding from their nose. i had no idea it was an anime thing until they reached out oocly to tell me they weren't really bleeding, it was just something that happened when people were embarrassed or flirting or something.

i still don't get it, but it certainly cemented another reason for me not to want to play against anime characters. or against people playing la character who were more comfortable playing anime characters.

meanwhile you can tell LAs because they only post 5 word tags.

Any FFXIV WoLxNPC ship, if only because the players get creepily attached due to the self insert nature of the WoL. An acquaintance once had a ship with a notorious one because they didn't know better, and now the WoL player is comparing other players of the NPC to them and infomodding those players to get the same ship dynamic again. They even got an expensive commission of the WoLxNPC ship based on their RP, but it was finished many months after the game ended and the acquaintance moved on.

i don't know. but they mentioned it in a scene where we were both playing la characters and because before that, i had no idea wtf, i had my character react icly, thinking it was real. i don't know why it would be mentioned in that context otherwise, but apparently they were used to playing/engaging in anime stuff and it carried over.

like i said, i don't get it. i've never read an anime/seen one.

facts. every single time i get into a new fandom and find out what the popular ships are i'm like....why? why these?

i normally think it's cute when people commission ship art based on rp, but with characters that are so easy to self-insert with it can get really weird really fast. different game, but i once had someone commission ship art for their malleable OC and my character who weren't romantically involved, based on a thread that was not shippy at all (at least on my end, their character was very flirtatious but mine just didn't reciprocate), and then they showed it to me with about five hundred winks and nudges, and then to their plurklist

people were telling me "oh, i thought your character was dating so and so" for like months after that

(throwing a blanket over my cartoon characters with ecats tags)

Boomerangers (I consider boomeranging taking between 1 to 5 minutes to tag) largely don't write good tags and it honestly feels desperate.

Taking an extra few minutes to reflect on your character, their motivations, and voice yields better RP. Groundbreaking.

this makes me wonder, what is generally considered boomeranging? to me boomeranging can mean up to an hour or so between tags, just as long as it's happening consistently

i’ve commissioned ship art but it was with characters whose players i’ve known for years. in fact one commission was because both of us are too busy to consistently rp, so i went to one of the artists she likes and commissioned one of our dropped threads that she had been very excited about and surprised her with it.

also wanted to add:

that said, commissioning art with someone who you’ve barely interacted with is fucking wild. especially since commissions aren’t cheap, i pay at least 200 for a painted piece, and the price goes up if there are more characters and if it’s full bodied etc. i would rather spend that money on a ship with someone who is on board and i know well enough than just springing it on someone who’s moved on months later.
