i find it hilarious all these people who without a hint of irony call themselves old, creaky, tired, and full of health problems when they're barely 40 years old. i'm gonna hate to see what they REALLY feel like when they reach 60. or are they already going to be in the nursing home by that point?

to be fair, i'm only late thirties and i have days when i feel old, creaky, tired, and full of health problems

i'm not actually old or creaky and my health problems are super mild, but it takes a lot more out of me putting in three or four 12-hour shifts weekly now than it did ten years ago. i'd feel a lot more sympathy for the people in question if they were weary from working, but from all the comments here it's not work that's wearing them out

your 30s is when you start to realize you aren't as fit as you were in your early 20s so it's natural to comment on it, usually with hyperbole

and our demographic is often overlapping with people who are indoors for health and disability reasons which can add to it. if it bothers you, i advise muting and moving on because you're a hair shy of seeming ableist rn

There are a lot of people in this community who are disabled, immunocompromised, and deal with deal with severe illnesses. This community draws people into is who don't have outlets outside of the home. A lot of us are full of health problems. Even those of us who were muscling through our twenties with no problem are settling down and acquiring better jobs with healthcare and getting diagnoses for problems we didn't realize were abnormal in the first place.

The shipping company is taking the cars even though they're owed money? Is their stuff staying behind if they can't pay them or the movers before they get on their flight? Why can they only vacuum one single hallway? How much garbage is in this place?

I want to help but how can someone (two people) need $6500 but also have zero contingency to just get on a plane if they haven't paid for their cars to be shipped or their movers? So confused.

those sorts of companies usually require a deposit and then invoice after the work is completed so it's possible but just very very stupid and irresponsible to go ahead without the means to pay them afterwards

if they can't pay they'll probably be facing legal action of some kind and possibly repossession so look out for future money begging plurks asking for funds to cover that

I have no sympathy for these people because I had to do a cross country move in an emergency and did it for less than $2000 and with no e-begging but you have to be willing to get rid of a lot of shit. This isn't an emergency and they're just lazy and greedy.

like, the gfm says they had car repair problems? then why not just sell the cars instead of paying to have them moved? at least then they could have some of their belongings. at this rate, the moving company will keep everything and auction it, if not take them to court over it.
